Pioneer PL-15R
The Pioneer PL 15R is an auto return turntable from the 1970's, very similar to the non-semi auto PL12D. I have tried it with several cartridges, Stanton 500 mkII, Audio-Technica, ADC P36 and Ortofon VMS 20 mkII; all sounded good and tracked well at under 2 grams. Playing George Benson's Breezin' the sound stage was wide with good clear treble plenty of tight bass, a very well balanced sound. All very easy to listen to and made me want to keep on playing records. I was surprised at the quality. A Mega 105 amplifier (a superb Tim Farrant design, now of Buzz Audio and now in Blenheim) and JBL L19 speakers completed the audio chain and the match was a pleasure to listen to.
