Thorens TD105
The TD105 is a budget model from Thorens, but still a real Thorens, not a re-badged modern effort. So this is really a very good turntable, it's well made with quality components, despite a lot of plastic, this is quality plastic with some unique design features, touch controls, high quality arm, perforated platter for the strobe speed check. It is semi-auto and returns the arm to it's rest at the end of the record. The tonearm is the TP22 with TP63 removable arm "wand", it detaches near the pivot rather than just the head shell being removed.
The motor is a decent size and the speed controller board is all high quality components and well designed.
The back of the touch buttons needed to be re-soldered to fix a touch control problem, intermittent but worked OK after a long warm up.
The sound is great, solid bass, nice detailed mid and highs and very easy to listen to... this table had an Ortofon VMS20E mk 2 fitted, a particularly good cartridge that suits this turntable well.
